Walking in Truth
A Word about God’s Plans
God carefully placed a good plan in each one of our hearts, but the devil discreetly arranged lies inside that plan.
When we believe a lie, we are lead astray, but when we turn to the Truth, we are placed on the path of life.
This struggle inside the heart happens everyday in the life of a Christian. Therefore, it is important for us to periodically evaluate our works and motives.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.”Ephesians 2:10 (ASV)
A Word about Good Works
The Word God plants in our hearts is the Living Truth, which grows to fruition inside the heart but is manifested in the body as good works inspired by God.
“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God.”1 Peter 1:23 (NIV)
Good works do not come naturally to any of us since we are born into a sinful world.
The lies in our hearts sabotage our lives and manifest themselves as evil works known as works of the flesh.
If you made a plan to construct a house, you know you would need materials, tools, and workers.
Once you have these things, you can build up your house.
Likewise, many Christians have a plan placed in their hearts by God, but are unable to act upon it because they do not study God’s Word.
This is equated as trying to build a house without materials, tools, or workers.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.”2 Timothy 3:16-17 (BSB)
Seek Your Provision
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV)
God has provided all the materials we need for us to do good works, and to build up our spiritual house.
But, we must remember to seek our provision by reading and meditating on God’s Word. By doing so, we learn the language of God, so we can discern our own needs and ask our Father to provide them.
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”Matthew 21:22 (ESV)
Remember, if we do go astray, we have grace in our Lord Jesus Christ, and He will lead us back to the Father. Do not be discouraged, but trust God in everything in your life and the good plans in your heart will come to life.
Summary: It is true that God has a plan for our lives, but we can only access that plan through Jesus Christ. God will provide everything we need, however it is important to read His Word in order to discern what we need. Through faith in Christ and study of the Word, we will be well equipped to do good works for God and others.
