The luxurious scent of lemongrass is fresh, clean, and aromatic. Her presence fills a room to the brim in a matter of seconds. Lemongrass is a queen in the herbal world of beauty, but she is also humble. Bougie AND laid back? I love lemongrass!

# 1. LEMONGRASS CLEANSING FACE OIL

If the idea of cleaning your face with oil sounds weird to you, you are not alone! But oil cleansing is easy to do and can save you some dollars , especially when you make it yourself.

If you already use a cleansing oil, lemongrass oil is an excellent addition to your existing face oil. You can also check out the recipe below for a DIY.

  • Fill a 1 oz sterilized glass bottle with carrier oil such olive or fractionated coconut oil.
  • Add 5-15 drops lemongrass essential oil into the carrier oil depending on the strength you want the oil to be.
  • Shake the bottle by hitting it on the palm of your hand 40 times.
  • Test the oil on a small part of your skin to test your reaction.
  • ENJOY!

The antibacterial mechanism of lemongrass makes it a great face cleanser but it can also calm irritated skin. Cleansing your skin with lemongrass can reduce dark spots and improve the overall texture of the skin.

You can also add lemongrass oil to your favorite skin oil. I recommend this organic luxury face oil.

# 2. LEMONGRASS BATH SOAK

Oh my actual goodness, is there time to take a relaxing bath? Grab your favorite wine, pop the cork, and enjoy doing absolutely nothing.

If you live in an area where you can grow a bit of lemongrass (zone 8 and above), this little indulgence could end up costing you $0.

But, if you live in a climate that is not so friendly to queen lemongrass, you can use lemongrass essential oil as well.

  • Cut off a bunch of lemongrass, tie it up, and bring it inside.
  • Put the lemongrass bunch in the bottom of the tub.
  • Run bath water that is WAAAAAAY too hot.
  • Let the lemongrass seep like a tea for a few minutes.
  • When the water is not hot enough to cook you alive, sit down and relax.

If you do not have fresh lemongrass on hand, simply add 5-10 drops of the essential oil to your bathwater.

# 3. LEMONGRASS AND ALOE FACE MASK

Who needs fancy sheet masks when you have Mother Nature? Okay, I admit I enjoy a splurge as much as the next girl, but this aloe mask is soooooooo refreshing!

We already know that lemongrass is antibacterial and calming to the skin. Combine it with aloe, which is calming AND moisturizing.

Use this mask right before bed or in the morning to treat a puffy face

  • combine 1 tsp aloe Vera gel or powder with 2-4 drops of lemongrass essential oil.

If you do not have any lemongrass essential oil, you can use 1 tsp of strong lemongrass tea, just double the amount of aloe gel.

optional add ins:

Gently spread on the mask and leave it on until it dries (about 15 minutes), then remove it with a damp warm washcloth.

If you have sensitive skin, start with just one drop of lemongrass essential oil in your mask. For something closer to a chemical peel you can use 4 drops. Avoid your eyes, nose, and lips when applying this mask!

Follow up with a neutral oil or moisturizer. If the mask starts to burn, don’t freak out, wash off with cool water and then apply aloe by itself.
