Embracing Change & Enjoying Life, a Season for Slowing Down

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”

Psalm 62:1 (NIV)

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

“Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.”

Ecclesiastes 4:6 (NIV)

Our society greatly values industry, hard work, and money. Certainly, these things are good things and add value to our lives and the lives of others. Yet, even the earth follows the fixed cycles of change, transforming and renewing each year with the seasons.

But, we as humans have fallen out of the natural order. We have become unstable, inpatient, and ungrateful. We are plagued with the ailment of imbalance.

Trapped in a cycle of excess, overproducing and overworking, we have thrown off the delicate balance of life.

Indeed, without rest, there is no observance, and without observance, there is no awareness.

What great blessings God has bestowed upon us, but if only we had the time to see them!

Without a doubt, our constant need for speed and efficiency combined with our aversion to respite is making us sicker than ever before.

Simply observe the prevalence of endocrine and neurological disorders and how they continue to increase over time.

It is clear that work without rest leads to weakness in the mind and body and can manifest as psychological and physiological disorders.

I assure you, I know this from experience.

Some examples of these disorders of imbalance include:

  • PCOS
  • hormonal imbalances
  • adrenal malfunction
  • high blood pressure
  • diabetes
  • vitamin deficiency
  • anemia
  • migraine headaches
  • neuralgia

Alas, what can be done to remedy this chaotic plague of excess?

There is no pill, nor tincture, nor remedy that humans can relieve the chaos we have encumbered upon the earth and one another.

Indeed, only obedience to the Word of God can restore us to our former state of equanimity.

We must humble ourselves and accept correction, turn back from our ways, and take a lesson from the seasons.

Seek the Lord first, and He will guide you and restore you. Rest in His Love,

Much Love, many Blessings, Jesus is Lord.
