Faith Tempered by Fire

A Strong Faith

Unrefined faith is a raw and necessary ingredient in which we obtain God’s promises, yet faith without works is dead. And until faith is joined with works, that faith is incomplete because it is untested.

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

If God has given you a Word, (which He has to all of us through His son Jesus and the bible), know that as soon as you believe in a Word from the Lord, attacks will come. This happens so that your belief/faith might be tested and purified.

And if you anticipate a miracle, the enemy will try to cloud your belief, so that he might transform it into unbelief.

God makes beautiful and miraculous promises, but we must fight in order to grab hold of them.

By fight, I do not mean to fight by one’s own strength, but to fight to maintain and grow a faith, established in Truth and refined by fire so that a promise can reach fruition. The enemy will make every effort to mislead, distract, and discourage your progress.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Fire Strengthens Faith - the Sword of the Word

The strongest swords are forged by fire repeatedly in a process called tempering in which the metal is heated and cooled in cycles.

Tempering from the old English roottemprian”, which means to bring to a proper or suitable state and to restrain within due limits. This is also related to the word temple.

As we are tempered through trial and tribulation, our faith in the Word, which is the sword of Truth is strengthened and hardened. We are built up as a holy temple, a sacred dwelling place of the Lord.

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Conclusion

It is a hard thing not be to be discouraged when trials come to test our faith, but it’s important to remember to look towards God, even when the enemy demands attention.

Above all, lean on the Lord and His Word.  Second to this, seek out mature brothers and sisters in the Lord as led by the Holy Spirit. Don’t be surprised when God sends you someone who has been through the same or similar trial.

May you be strengthened to grow in faith and love in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Much Love in Christ.
